Happy Wednesday, Everyone!  It’s time to start focusing on the amazing talent that will be participating in our San Francisco Summer Market, and boy, do we have some amazing Makers to show you!  

Today we are featuring the beautifully designed perfume company, Imaginary Authors. The Portland-based perfumery was launched in 2012 by Josh Meyer and features innovative scents inspired by the imaginations of their fictitious authors.

Josh was never one for perfume, but after getting his first bottle, he soon became interested in the art form of perfumery.  Experimentation and the understanding of how elements work together is what brought Imaginary Authors into being.  For Josh, his method of creating scents isn’t like chemistry, but closer to painting – blending and combining different notes to create the landscape of the perfume.  What makes Imaginary Authors truly unique is the story each scent tells.  In order to describe the essence inside the bottle, Josh began to develop stories, imagery, and even fictitious authors to illustrate the inspiration and landscape for each scent.

We can’t get over how perfect the Imaginary Authors’ mission statement encapsulates the idea behind the perfumes while making you want to be a part of the experience!

Imaginary Authors is born from the concept of scent as art and art as provocation. Like a good book, these scents are meant to inspire you. In these bottles are layered narratives that are sure to generate stirring conversation, fragrances that might be capable of changing the course of your own personal story. The hope is that they not only invigorate and intoxicate, but also take you to new places.  Each Imaginary Authors fragrance follows a compelling storyline peppered with intriguing twists. These are scents to curl up with, to share with friends, to take with you wherever you go, and to return to again and again for a uniquely transcendent experience.   The artistry wrapped around the perfume bottle and the story it tells is what makes Imaginary Authors perfume so captivating.
