Maker Spotlight
How adorable are these mini figurines from Raville? Since we can’t decide which is cutest, we may just have to buy multiples at our New York Fair next week. Raville is Junghwa Park’s brand new collection of ceramics and illustrations and we cannot wait to see more.
Where did your business name come from? Is there an interesting history behind?
Raville means rabbit village. All my illustration and object collection represent bunny’s story.
Have you always been passionate about design?
Yes. Since I was really young, I love to create and make product by myself. I always have tons of idea.
When/Why did you start working in this particular craft/field?
I always made something. Organizing and working in this particular field started early this year.
What do you think sets your designs apart from others?
It is definitely girly and cute. Sometimes, it gives whimsical question too.
Have you sacrificed anything to create your business? If so, what was it, and do you have any regrets?
Money, and time. I do not regret at all. All scarification give me lesson and life.
What has been your proudest/favorite moment since creating your business?
New ideas, and when people satisfy with my art.
What valuable experience/knowledge did you have before starting your business?
Do what I really love for life.
>What made you take this leap into being your own boss?
I do not think myself as boss. But I started my business because I like to push ahead ideas in my head. Also, I like to express my creativity in my way.
What are some inspirations for your work?
-coexistence between nature and human and through childhood journey.
